When I began Brenna Heater Photography in 2013, I had no idea where life, or business, would take me over the next five years! I have been so incredibly blessed to work with such amazing clients who have become even better friends.
As time goes on, and my kids get older, I’m constantly reminded of why I began my business in the first place. I wanted to serve families, have a creative outlet, and give generously to others in need. My goal was never to be a full-time business or primary financial provider for my family.
My son turned five last November so he’ll start kindergarten this year. He has never attended day care or preschool and I have always been the primary care provider for both kiddos. Our family has prayed about his schooling for a long time, and we know that God is calling us to homeschool him for the time being. While we are so excited to start this journey together, I also knew I had to start scaling back my photography services in order to have the time to dedicate to Aaron’s education.
I have made the decision to no longer book family sessions to focus more on maternity, newborns, and graduating seniors. I am still booking headshots and am happy to book engagement and anniversary sessions if my availability allows. I updated my website several months ago, and was not planning on announcing this decision publicly, but I have continued to receive family session inquiries and have several amazing returning clients whom I feel deserve to know the whole story behind this choice.
As a small, boutique photo studio, I don’t have a desire to manage associate photographers or have sessions booked six days per week. My greatest desire is to serve a small number of families every week and give each of them a truly special experience from beginning to end. I want them to feel valued, appreciated, and loved.
I will continue to offer limited mini sessions in the fall! However, my 2017 and 2018 maternity and newborn clients will have the first opportunity to book these. You will also be invited to participate in Fall Minis if you have booked any custom session or at least two mini sessions in the last two years. I will no longer be taking new clients for mini sessions.
I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for the growth of this business over these last five years. What started as a small hobby has now grown beyond my wildest dreams into a legitimate company (I have business insurance and pay monthly sales taxes…whoa!).
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued love and support!
P.S. Much thanks to my friend Kimmie of FotoMeStudios for my lovely new photo!
